The Presbyterian Church of the Mountain (PCOM) in Delaware Water Gap, PA presented Jay Rattman and Friends on Sunday August 8th as part of their Summer Gazebo Concert Series. The warm summer day provided a fitting atmosphere in which the cool jazz created by this quartet could sooth the minds and enliven the soul of all who listened in. The large crowd that gathered sat back and enjoyed the relaxing effects of the music.
The quartet consisted of Jay Rattman on Alto Saxophone, Spencer Reed on Electric Jazz Guitar, Bobby Avey on Keyboards, and Evan Gregor on Upright Bass. After an introduction made by Bonnie Childs of The PCOM and a technical difficulty relating to the absence of a much needed cable was resolved, the friends began to play a wonderful assortment of original work alongside some jazz standards. A great many heads throughout the audience could be seen swaying back and forth leading some to begin to doze as the effects of the soft and gentle tunes led many to a dreamlike countenance. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. You’ll find more photographs in The Forwardian Arts Society PCOM Gazebo Concerts 2010 Gallery at www.myspace.com/forwardian_arts.
