On
a day that betrayed the forecast of a rain filled evening, the
borough of Stroudsburg, PA presented an installment of their Outside
Concerts at Courthouse Park Series on Thursday
June 16th.
This week's concert featured a duet known as Woodrow
www.facebook.com/wearewoodrow/?fref=ts&ref=br_tf.
The duo consists of with
Theresa Ratcliff on Vocals and Brian
Bramkamp on Guitar who are well known and loved throughout the area.
They can be seen every Sunday evening at The Sherman Showcase's Open
Mic Nite www.shermantheater.com
but their next performance will be at
The Origins Gallery www.originsgallery.org
on Saturday June 18th
for their Photography Show Reception and The Forwardian Arts
Society's Cover to Cover V Contest. The
duo were joined on this occasion by Pete Taney of The Juggernaut
String Band www.facebook.com/JuggernautStringBand
who lent his Banjo playing skills to the performance. Together, their
songs filled the air with compositions that gently created a tender
disposition among the gathering while others renderings flowed among
their thoughts reforming their perceptions of reality.
In
addition to the music, there were several family orientated
activities available to everyone. These included an opportunity to
utilized some colored chalk and encouragement supplied by St'Art
Stroudsburg www.startstroudsburg.org
to adorn the Monroe street section next to the park. Children from
nine years to nine decades filled the streets and their clothing with
colors as they created images reflecting their imagination along with
those reminiscent of the English fairy tale titled, “Jack
and the Beanstalk” (aka “The Story of Jack Spriggins and the
Enchanted Bean”). Jody
Singer, the Director of The Origins Gallery, joyfully distributed the
pieces of magic to the crowds that gathered.
It
was a fun and relaxing time spent in the borough listening to music,
playing with chalk, and chatting with friends. The departure of those
who gathered to enjoy the experience were filled with anticipation
for the next concert in the series. The next Outside
Concert at Courthouse Park
is scheduled for Thursday
June 23rd
beginning
at 6pm and
will feature the music of
Roy
Ramos.
