Windows Within the Cinema

Photography by Paparazzi Paul

The Gallery at The Pocono Cinema and Cultural Center (PC3) in East Stroudsburg, PA held an Artist's Reception on Saturday September 24th for their Store Windows Exhibition featuring the work of Tamara Dunn. The photographs presented in the exhibition depicts mannequins and other objects that adorns windows in a business that seeks to enhance their sales through attractive displays. These displays are designed to capture the attention of the passerby and engage their imagination in order to fantasize what his/her life would be like if they purchased the object(s) presented.

The photographs presented by Ms. Dunn has a similar effect as they encourage the imaginative abilities of the viewer to place themselves standing before a window in the city or town the image was captured. The exhibition showcases the flavor of the area from which the photograph was taken through its window dressings that reflect the predominant stylings of the people inhabiting the city or town along with the more subtle reflections of the structures in the store's vicinity upon its windows. The ability to create a reflective and imaginative mood among the viewer allow him/her to see the world and themselves in a different way.

The images created by Ms. Dunn can be seen along the walls of the theater's lobby and hallway leading to the 2nd and 3rd screening rooms. Taking some time to explore the work of Ms. Dunn is a wonderful way to experience the theater before and after viewing a film.
