The Final PCOM Gazebo Concert for 2016 Rings Abell

Photography by Paparazzi Paul.

It was a quiet afternoon as the soothing breeze touched the trees and the grass that encircled the Gazebo on Sunday August 28th at The Presbyterian Church of the Mountain in Delaware Water Gap, PA. A whisper rode upon the breeze and was heard by all those who were intent on hearing it. It bade a thoughtful farewell to the 2016 concert series as it was the final one for the year and its echoes touched the gathering with its contemplative voice. It was at the appointed hour did the church's host, Jim Dellaria, stepped upon the gazebo's stage to welcome the gathering and to introduce the musicians.

The Matt Abell Trio consisted of Skip Detrick on Percussion, Rob Victory on Ukulele Bass, and Matt Abell on Guitar and Vocals. The gentle tonal qualities of the trio flowed upon the large audience creating a refreshed experience for each member. The original compositions that were presented held a familiarity to them which was embraced by one and all. This familiarity rose up from the eternal essence of human-hood that connects our thoughtful, humorous, and transcendent natures with one another. Hot dogs, cakes, and other treats were consumed during a break and were enjoyably digested as the music resumed. The concert came to its conclusion as the trio shared a haunting melody that would linger in the soul of each member of the gathering until the the series returns in 2017. The Matt Abell Trio fills their songs with stories that allow their audience to explore life from a new perspective that dwells in each composition. A diversity of musical genres are embraced as the eclectic taste of the musicians move from one styling to another. These tastes include pop, folk, rock, blues, reggae, and Latin jazz.
