On
a day filled with rain, The Presbyterian Church of the Mountain in
Delaware Water Gap, PA presented Calliope as part of their 2016
Summer Gazebo Concert Series within their dry fellowship hall on
Sunday July 31st.
The mixture of Classical, Folk, Americana, and Ragtime compositions
rendered by Gina
Bertucci and Barbara McMahon on Flute along with Laura Goss Gina
Bertucci and Barbara McMahon on Flute along with Laura Goss on
Bassoon delighted the sizable audience who gathered together to
partake of the excellent music. This was further enhanced by the
appearance of Steven Mathiesen who shared his talents on the Marimba
which often added an international flavor to the concert.
The
performance began shortly after the church's host, Jim
Dellaria, welcomed the gathering and introduced the ensemble. Each
selection was then preceded with a history of the piece and its
composer. This added a comprehensive dimension to the work which
increased the appreciation of it. A gentle feeling traveled among the
listeners as the musicians applied their fabulous talents to
compliment the music they played. It was a mild afternoon that was
welcomed by all and proved to be a wonderful way to complete the
series for the month of July leaving all present to eagerly await the
concerts scheduled for August.
