Although
the gathering was few in number, the excitement of beginning another
season filled with wonderful art touched those who attended the first
Art Exhibit at The Antoine Dutot Museum and Gallery in Delaware Water
Gap, PA for 2016. The Reflections on Myth and Memory exhibition
adorned the walls of the gallery as well as the essence of those who
absorbed its qualities during an Artist's Reception that was held on
Saturday
May 28th.
The exhibit featured the work of Kevin Convery.
As
one becomes acquainted with the excellently crafted pieces, an
overwhelming feeling of desire takes hold enticing the spirit to move
among the images within the frames and become a part of its world.
Some pieces had a story detailing the mythology connected to the
images. This allowed the viewer to explore the deeper meanings found
in the aesthetic depictions as signposts embodied in the text guided
them a more fuller journey of the scene. Yet, there were a number of
pieces that simply had its titled along side of it. These pairings
seemed vague as first but their mysterious connection challenged the
imagination of the viewer to go beyond the physical realms in order
to become awakened to so much more.
It
was a great show and it was one well befitting the opening of another
season for the Dutot. It was unfortunate there were few people in
attendance, but the sparsity of individuals afforded those who did
come an opportunity to chat among themselves about the work and the
wonders the gallery will present throughout the Summer and Fall
Seasons. You'll find more photographs taken during the Artists'
Reception in the Mythic Reflections Remembered at The Dutot Gallery

Kevin Convery has been experiencing the rich imagery of characters and symbols in stories relating to mythologies ever since he was at a young age. A resonance between the myths and his own experience of life over a period of years was made known to him. Mr. Convery utilizes this resonance to reveal the undercurrents found in the mythologies he renders while creating an opportunity to reflect on basic life themes.
